Visiting Dandelion Acres

Below, we are sharing some helpful information about visiting Dandelion Acres in person.

First, our aspiration is to share this land with you as a place of belonging, hope, and joy. To do so and as we respect the land, its creatures, our human neighbors, and where we live, we offer these guidelines to help us all live in harmony.

Travel to Dandelion Acres may be challenging for some of our guests, by car, we are hours north of the Twin Cities and there are no public transportation systems that link the Twin Cities to our area that we know of. Please allow enough time for calm and mindful travel so that you will arrive refreshed and relaxed.

There are no RV hookups on Dandelion Acres, but there is room to park your rig if you can boondock and be self-sufficient. Feel free to contact brad for information.

At this point, our facilities are not ADA compliant, our goal is to correct this when possible. Please understand that most facilities require the ability to walk up and down flights of steps and the ability to safely walk on uneven and possible wet areas.

We aspire to live on this land in accordance with the Five Mindfulness Trainings, Please let the Five MTs guide you during your visit.

This is a alcohol and other drug-free environment. We ask that you refrain from the possession, use, or advocating of Alcohol, Tobacco, or Other Drugs while on the property. Of course, prescription medication is exempt and should be used as prescribed by a health professional. Please do not attend the retreat under the influence of non-prescribed alcohol or other drugs.

Please inform the staff if you have any physical conditions, including mental health challenges that may require medical intervention while you are on grounds at Dandelion Acres.

Weapons, including firearms are not allowed on Dandelion Acre grounds

There is no drug store in the immediate area so please bring all needed personal over the counter medication and prescription medication with you.

Indoor tap water is treated to remove dangerous heavy metals, please do not drink water from outdoor hoses or taps.

We invite you to keep your electronic devices on airplane mode as much as possible while on retreat at Dandelion Acres. Cell phone service on and around the property can be spotty depending on your provider.

Please park in designated areas respectful of others. Please limit idling of petroleum-fueled vehicles on grounds. If you are driving at night please be aware of deer crossing the road and humans walking along or roads without sidewalks.

There is a gas station and grocery store about 3 miles from Dandelion Acres where you can purchase many needed, but forgotten personal supplies.

There are bears, deer, coyotes, occasional wolves, foxes, and other potentially dangerous animals that call this property their home. Please treat them with the respect they deserve and avoid storing food or drink in tents or other outdoor locations.

Mosquitos, ticks, hornets, and other biting or stinging insects call this property home as well. Please dress accordingly, use repellants as needed, and if you have a known allergic reaction please carry rescue medication on you at all times. Please check for ticks each time after you venture into the woods or grassland.

Please no open flames indoors or outdoors except in the outdoor fire pit.

Please do not bring pets to Dandelion Acres. We have resident pets and we wish to keep the environment calm and safe for all.

Each day there is working meditation. Please participate in working meditation to your ability to help us keep Dandelion Acres welcoming, clean, and sanitary.

Please cancel your visit if you discover you have a contagious disease to protect the health of yourself and others.

We will provide healthy vegan meals and we may ask your assistance in preparing, serving, and cleanup of meals. if you have food allergies or other dietary restrictions, please discuss your needs with staff prior to registering for on-grounds events to discover if we can make reasonable accommodations.

Noble silence should be maintained from 9:00 PM until after breakfast each day unless schedule changes are posted.

We are on a septic system so please only flush human waste and septic safe toilet paper we supply down the toilets. Please do not flush anything else down the toilet including tissues, wipes and feminine hygiene products. Please check with Brenda or brad for suggestions for septic system safe soaps and hair care products that may be used in the shower.

We will provide bedlinen, including pillows and blankets, but please bring your own towels, toiletries, and other personal supplies that are septic system safe.

We have limited toilets, so please be respectful of others when occupying the restroom. We are building an outdoor composting toilet to reduce the burden on the restrooms.

Housing is communal so you may wish to bring appropriate sleeping attire and earplugs. The sun remains up late this far North so you may also benefit from sleeping masks. Also, some folk are very sensitive to odors so please avoid heavily scented items such as perfumes, incense, essential oils, etc. indoors.

Please do not bring unregistered guests or visitors to Dandelion Acres.

Weather is very changeable here and sometimes unpredictable. Please wear and bring clothing that is appropriate for you and the weather. We invite you to dress modestly such as you might wear to a Monastic retreat center.
